When the amount of fluid becomes more it results in extreme pain on either side of the abdomen. This rupture can occur on any one side of the ovary. The problem arises when the situation is not controlled and with time the sacs enlarge. This makes its outer walls weak and as a result it ruptures letting the fluid move out. This phenomenon is known as ruptured ovarian cyst. When this occurs the fluid that was inside the sac moves out causing irritation in the lining of the pelvis and also causes excruciating pain. This pain is not permanent but it subsides slowly as the days pass by.
When a woman feels such pain on one side of the abdomen she is prescribed tests to confirm it as there may be other causes of pain too, like infection. When an ovarian cyst is diagnosed the patient has to undergo ultrasound or sonogram tests to find out whether the ovarian cyst contains properties that may lead to cancer. In the ultrasound, fluids in the pelvic region will be visible prominently. If there is no fluid it means the cyst has not yet ruptured and there will only be a prominent black round patch on the testing monitor.
When the ovarian cyst is detected there are medications and treatments to cure it. Medicines are used to cure the painful cysts and to make the pain subside. When the cyst is small and the situation is under control it can be cured with capsule and pills. However, if the doctor finds that the cyst is more than 5 centimeters they do not have any other option than to perform a surgery in order to cure it. But one does not have to lose heart and become tensed in such situation as medicines that are taken during the treatment minimize the chances of the rupture from recurring. If you are afraid of this rupture then oral birth control medicines are a good way of avoiding the rupture and induce healthy ovarian function in the body. However, these pills should not be consumed solely for preventing ovarian rupture but must be consumed as and when required to prevent pregnancy.
The facts above will make you understand that ruptured ovarian cyst is curable and there is no serious risk involved in it. There are proper medications and surgeries to cure it. The problem that causes agony among the patients is the unbearable pain that is caused during this illness.
